Gorgenyi Powers Wildcats to Alumni Day Quad Meet Triumph

Graduate student wins vault, bars, floor and all-around in final home meet
DURHAM, N.H. – In the final home meet of her outstanding career, graduate student Kylie Gorgenyi (North Reading, Mass.) collected first-place finishes on vault, uneven bars, floor exercise and all-around to power the UNH gymnastics team to Sunday afternoon's Alumni Day quad-meet victory against Brown, Temple and Bridgeport at Lundholm Gym.
The Wildcats (20-12, 2-2 EAGL) equaled a season-high with a 195.875 to edge the runner-up Bears (194.925), third-place Owls (194.850) and fourth-place Purple Knights (194.175). UNH's win against Temple counted in the EAGL regular-season standings, six days before the two schools compete in the five-team EAGL Championship at Towson University's TU Center on Saturday, March 23 (4 p.m.).

HOW IT HAPPENED
•Gorgenyi won vault with a 9.875, just ahead of Temple's Amelia Budd (9.850). Sophomore Leah Moreno (Cary, N.C.) tied for sixth place (9.775) as the Wildcats totaled a 48.775 for third place through one rotation.
•On bars, Gorgenyi again topped the podium with a 9.900 to outdistance Bridgeport's Emily Hernandez (9.875). Senior Sierra Bauman (Wallingford, Conn.) tied her career high with a 9.825, which matched classmate Jenna DeVincenzo (Bethpage, N.Y.) for a share of fifth place, and graduate student Kenadi Brown (Las Vegas, Nev.) wrapped up her home career with a 9.800 (T-8th) as the 'Cats totaled a 49.125 in that event.
•Sophomore Serena Mullin (Hamden, Conn.) established a personal best on balance beam with a 9.925 to share first place with Temple's Brooke Donabedian. DeVincenzo closed her home career with a career-high 9.875 (T-4th), while Bauman, freshman Gwen Ockerbloom (Granby, Conn.) and junior Alyssa Beaulieu (Holyoke, Mass.), the meet's Katie Baldwin Expression Award recipient, each scored a 9.775 (T-11th) to lead UNH to a 49.125 and first place through three rotations.
•Serving as the floor lineup anchor, Gorgenyi's final Lundholm Gym routine resulted in a career-high 9.950, tying the fourth-highest floor score in program history, and a first-place finish ahead of runner-up Donabedian (9.875) and co-third place finishers Beaulieu (9.850) and Julia Bedell of Brown. Freshman Anne Challman (Lewisburg, Pa.) tied for eighth (9.775), and the Wildcats posted a 48.850 team score to conclude the victory.
•Gorgenyi's 39.400 won the all-around, with Bauman registering a 39.075 in her first career all-around performance for second place. Bridgeport's Abigail Kenney took third (38.750).

•The UNH gymnastics team contends for its first EAGL title since 2019 when it competes in the 2024 EAGL Championship at Towson's TU Arena on Saturday, March 23, at 4 p.m. The Wildcats meet the host Tigers, George Washington, LIU and Temple.
