Mullin Leads Wildcats to a 195.250 in Missouri Quad Meet

UNH places third behind No. 11 Denver, host Tigers; defeats Southeast Missouri State
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Sophomore Serena Mullin (Hamden, Conn.) registered team-leading scores on vault, balance beam and floor exercise to lead the UNH gymnastics team to a 195.250 and a third-place finish in Sunday's University of Missouri quad meet at the Hearnes Center. No. 11 Denver won the meet with a 197.625, followed by the 13th-ranked Tigers (197.375). UNH (17-12, 1-2 EAGL) topped Southeast Missouri State (193.150).
Graduate student Kylie Gorgenyi (North Reading, Mass.) matched Mullin on vault (9.800, T-8th), paced the Wildcats' uneven-bar lineup (9.800, T-14th) and secured a 9.850 on floor (T-12th). Gorgenyi finished fifth in all-around with a 39.050.
HOW IT HAPPENED
•UNH started the meet on floor exercise with a 49.175. Junior Alyssa Beaulieu (Holyoke, Mass.) tied Gorgenyi for 12th place with a 9.850, senior Maya MacDonald (East Greenbush, N.Y.) notched a 9.825 (T-15th) and classmate Sierra Bauman (Wallingford, Conn.) totaled a 9.775 (18th). Missouri's Sienna Schreiber and Kennedy Griffin tied for first on floor with a 9.950.
•The Wildcats scored a 48.725 on vault, with senior Jenna DeVincenzo (Bethpage, N.Y.) supporting the Mullin/Gorgenyi tandem with a 9.750 (16th). Denver's Rosie Casali and Jessica Hutchinson won the event with a 9.925.
•In the third rotation, UNH scored a 48.800 on bars. DeVincenzo scored a 9.775 (T-16th), while senior Gianna Graver (East Northport, N.Y.) and sophomore Leah Moreno (Cary, N.C.) tallied matching marks of 9.750 (T-18th). A four-way deadlock for the bar championship went to Denver's Jessica Hutchinson and Rylie Mundell and Missouri's Schreiber and Mara Titarsolej (9.950).
•Closing on beam, the 'Cats posted a 48.550. Beaulieu scored a 9.725 (T-12th), and Bauman placed 14th with a 9.700.
•Denver's Jessica Hutchinson won the all-around with a 39.725.
