Sophomore becomes first Wildcat in nine years to score a 9.950 on floor exercise
DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore Serena Mullin (Hamden, Conn.) became the first UNH gymnast to score a 9.950 on floor exercise in nine years, and graduate student Kylie Gorgenyi (North Reading, Mass.) recorded individual wins on vault, uneven bars and all-around to lead the Wildcats to Sunday afternoon's 194.550-192.350 dual-meet triumph against Southern Connecticut State University at Lundholm Gym.
Mullin's personal-best floor routine received a 9.950 from both judges, making her the first UNH gymnast since Meghan Pflieger on Feb. 8, 2015, to reach that benchmark. Only two Wildcats have ever scored higher (9.975) on floor, Amanda Hall (twice in 2005) and Mariana Peña Trestini (2005). Hall is also the only 'Cat besides Mullin and Pflieger to score a 9.950, which she also did twice in 2004.
Gorgenyi highlighted the vault lineup for UNH (7-2, 1-0 EAGL) with a 9.850, paced bars with a first-place 9.875 and topped the podium in all-around (39.125) for the third time in four meets this season.
