Gorgenyi Sets Program Record with 9.975 on Uneven Bars at All-American Challenge

Wildcats score 193.325 to place runner-up to SCSU at Mohegan Sun quad meet
UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Graduate student Kylie Gorgenyi (North Reading, Mass.) set the University of New Hampshire gymnastics team's all-time highest score on uneven bars with a 9.975, and the Wildcats scored a 193.325 to finish in second place at Monday night's All-American Challenge quad meet at Mohegan Sun.
Southern Connecticut State won the meet with a 194.150. UNH defeated LIU (192.025) and Yale (191.150) in the podium meet.
Gorgenyi, who scored a 9.950 on Feb. 5 to equal the previous program record shared by Karen Olsson, Mariana Peña Trestini, Ali Carr, Austin Fobes and Danielle Mulligan (3x), set the new benchmark as the final competitor of the meet for UNH (12-7, 1-2 EAGL). Gorgenyi placed runner-up to SCSU's Gigi Mastellone, who achieved a perfect 10.000.
HOW IT HAPPENED
•In the opening rotation, the Wildcats started slowly on balance beam before sophomore Serena Mullin (Hamden, Conn.) hit her set for a team-best 9.800 to share fourth place. LIU boasted the top two beam scores with the combination of Syd Morris (9.950) and Cael Bixler (9.900).
•Gorgenyi was the Wildcats' top floor exercise competitor with a 9.850 to equal SCSU's Erica Beyer for fourth place. The Blue Devils' Libby Allen topped the floor podium with a 9.900. Mullin added a 9.775 (T-9th).
•Gorgenyi and LIU's Alana Ricketts shared first place on vault (9.875). Senior Jenna DeVincenzo (Bethpage, N.Y.) and sophomore Leah Moreno (Cary, N.C.) each received a 9.750 (T-4th).
•The 'Cats soared to a season-high 49.275 on bars in the fourth rotation. Supporting Gorgenyi's record-setting performance, DeVincenzo set a personal best with a 9.925 (third place), graduate student Kenadi Brown (Las Vegas, Nev.) tallied a season-high 9.850 (T-4th), and senior Gianna Graver (East Northport, N.Y.) also went for a career high with a 9.775 (T-8th).
•Morris won the all-around with a 39.025, while Gorgenyi placed second (38.650).

•The UNH gymnastics team honors its senior class -Sierra Bauman, Kenadi Brown, Jenna DeVincenzo, Gianna Graver, Kylie Gorgenyi and Maya MacDonald- in its Senior Day quad meet versus Fisk, Rhode Island College and Southern Connecticut State on Sunday, Feb. 25 (2 p.m.) in the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex.
