Gorgenyi Powers 'Cats to Season-High Road Score at GWU Quint Meet

Graduate student sets PB on vault, wins all-around and Wildcats score 195.675 to place third
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Graduate student Kylie Gorgenyi (North Reading, Mass.) set a personal-best on vault (9.900) to share first place in that event and won her fifth all-around championship in six meets with a career-high-matching 39.375 to propel the University of New Hampshire gymnastics team to its top road score of the season (195.675) in Friday night's quint meet at George Washington's Charles E. Smith Center.
Host GWU won the meet with a 196.625, followed by Towson (196.600). The Wildcats (10-6, 1-2 EAGL) finished third by topping Kent State (195.125) and William & Mary (193.250).
•The Wildcats started the meet on uneven bars, with Gorgenyi anchoring the lineup with a 9.850 to share third place with Towson's Camille Vitoff. Senior Jenna DeVincenzo (Bethpage, N.Y.) tied for 12th with a 9.725. TU's Isabella Minervini won bars with a 9.975.
•Junior Alyssa Beaulieu (Holyoke, Mass.) headlined the balance beam lineup with a 9.825 (T-9th). DeVincenzo, senior Sierra Bauman (Wallingford, Conn.) and freshman Gwen Ockerbloom (Granby, Conn.) tied for 12th place with a 9.800, which was a career high for Ockerbloom. GWU's Maya Peters won beam with a 9.925.
•Beaulieu scored a personal-best 9.875 on floor exercise to match Gorgenyi for team-high honors and a share of fourth place. Sophomore Serena Mullin (Hamden, Conn.) scored a 9.825 (T-12th). George Washington's Kendall Whitman won floor with a 9.950.
•Following a bye, UNH flourished on vault. Gorgenyi tied GWU's Rachel Katz and Towson's Elise Tisler atop the podium, while Mullin scored a PB-matching 9.825 (T-11th) and a quartet of Wildcats scored a 9.800 (T-16th: DeVincenzo; senior Maya MacDonald (East Greenbush, N.Y.); sophomore Leah Moreno (Cary, N.C.) and freshman McCall McMullen (Athens, Ga.). The latter three each set a career high.
•Gorgenyi edged Whitman (39.200) for the all-around title.

•The UNH gymnastics team competes in a Monday night quad meet as part of the exclusive All-American Challenge at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn. The Wildcats will square off with LIU, Yale and SCSU in a podium meet.
