
Three 'Cats Earn NFHCA All-Region Awards

MANAHAWKIN, N.J. – Junior forward and captain Tasmin Cookman (London, England) of the University of New Hampshire field hockey team was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Northeast Region First Team on Wednesday.
Fellow junior captain Nicole Poulakis (Ajax, Ontario) and freshman Faye Meijer (Purmerend, Netherlands) – both midfielders – were named to the Northeast Region Second Team.
This is the third consecutive year Cookman has made the all-region First Team and second consecutive year Poulakis is a regional Second Team honoree.
The NFHCA will announce the Regional Players of the Year on Dec. 12, followed by the All-America Teams on Dec. 17 and the National Player of the Year on Dec. 19.
Cookman, who started all 20 games, ranked No. 21 in the nation in goals per game (0.65) and 25th in points per game (1.60). Those numbers were fourth in America East in both goals per game and points per game. She ranked second on the team in goals (13), assists (six) and points (32).
In conference-only games, Cookman finished atop the America East leaderboard in both goals per game (1.00) and points per game (2.17).
Cookman scored a goal in 10 of 20 games with a point in 13 games. She scored two goals in a game three times, including against conference foes Bryant and Vermont. Cookman had a season-high five-game goal streak spanning Sept. 27 to Oct. 11 with seven goals in that span.
Cookman was named the America East Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive year and All-Conference First Team for the third time in as many years.
Meijer, who started all 20 games, was one of two America East players to reach double digits in assists with 10 and ranked second in assists per game (0.50). Meijer was also No. 7 in points per game (1.30) and 11th in goals per game (0.40).
On the UNH leaderboard, she ranked first in assists, third in points (26) and fourth in goals (eight). In six conference games, Meijer tallied two goals and three assists for seven points.
Meijer's season highlights included a five-game point streak from Sept. 20 to Oct. 4 with three consecutive three-point games that included a career-high three assists vs. Providence. She recorded bests of two goals and six points against Merrimack and scored a goal in both the semifinal and championship game of the conference tournament.
Meijer's other postseason honors include America East Rookie of the Year, All-Conference Second Team and All-Rookie Team. She led the league with four Rookie of the Week awards in 2024
Poulakis, who started all 20 games, ranked third on the team in goals (11) and fourth in points (24), as well as tied for the lead in game-winning goals (three). On the America East leaderboard, she tied for sixth in goals per game (0.55) and tied for ninth in points per game (1.20); her three game-winning goals tied for fourth.
Poulakis recorded a point in 11 of 20 games with a goal in 10, including two goals in the America East semifinal victory. She scored a goal three consecutive games Oct. 6-18 and had a goal in back-to-back games two other times. She also had a three-game point streak Sept. 22-29.
In five games against nationally-ranked teams, Poulakis tallied two goals and an assist for five points. Also of note, she recorded four goals and an assist for nine points in six conference games.
Poulakis was named to both the America East All-Conference First Team and All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year in 2024.
UNH finished the 2024 season with a 10-10 record as the Wildcats were runner-up in both the America East regular-season standings and conference tournament. This high-scoring trio helped the 'Cats rank No. 6 in the nation in goals per game (3.05).
