DURHAM, N.H. – Nicole Poulakis (Ajax, Ontario) and Addison MacNeil (Brentwood, N.H.) both scored a goal but the University of New Hampshire field hockey team was edged 3-2 in overtime by 13^th-ranked UAlbany at Memorial Field on Friday afternoon.

UNH goalie Abby Johnson (Walpole, Mass.) was credited with two saves, including one in overtime.

Floor de Ruiter scored the game-winning goal at 64:32 and also tallied an assist on the game-tying goal. UAlbany goalie Lara Behn made one save. Mara Kuskes and Eva Jenniskens scored the other Great Danes' goals.

Following this showdown for first place in America East, UNH is now 6-8 overall and 3-1 in America East while UAlbany improved to 12-2, 4-0.

FIRST QUARTER

Both teams struggled to get the ball inside the circle in the opening 15 minutes of the game.
UAlbany recorded a 2-0 shot advantage in the scoreless first quarter; neither shot was on goal.

SECOND QUARTER

UNH recorded a 3-1 shot advantage in the second quarter and scored with 50 seconds on the clock to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Poulakis corralled a loose ball at the 25 yard line, entered at the top of the circle and blasted a low shot into the cage for her seventh goal of the season.

THIRD QUARTER

Both teams scored one goal in the third quarter with UAlbany recording a 4-3 edge in shots.
The Wildcats converted a penalty corner into a goal and 2-0 lead at 40:21. Ella Pratt (Denver, Colo.) inserted a short corner to MacNeil, whose shot through traffic went into the cage.
The Great Danes also capitalized on a corner to trim the deficit to 2-1 at 42:41, when Kuskes inserted the ball and redirected Alison Smisdon's shot into the cage.

FOURTH QUARTER

UAlbany had a 4-0 shot advantage in the final quarter of regulation.
The visitors tied the score, 2-2, at 54:33. From the top of the circle, de Ruiter intentionally directed a shot to the right of the cage and Jenniskens redirected the ball in.

OVERTIME

The Great Danes recorded the only two shots in the extra session.
de Ruiter snuck behind the defense on the left side but Johnson made the save at 63:05 to extend the game.
de Ruiter would not be denied a second time in OT, however, as she corralled Smisdom's long hit in the middle of the circle and fired a shot into the cage at 63:14.

UNH NOTEBOOK

Poulakis extended her goal streak to three games and she has scored a goal in five of the last six games.
Poulakis ranks third on the team in both goals (seven) and points (16).
Pratt recorded her first assist of the season and second career.
