Wildcats Fall Short in Heartbreaker vs. Holy Cross Sunday Evening

Davide Poser tallies career highs in points and rebounds
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The University of New Hampshire men's basketball team fell to Holy Cross, 74-70 on Sunday evening from the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Junior guard Anthony McComb III (Dayton, Ohio) scored 17 points for the Wildcats and collected six rebounds. Sophomore forward Davide Poser (Veneto, Italy) added a career high 12 points and five rebounds for the 'Cats. Junior guard Rex Sunderland (Kaysville, Utah) also tallied 13 points on the night.
The Wildcats fall to 1-6 (0-0 AE).

- Poser knocked down back-to-back three pointers to start the scoring for UNH (6-3).
- Holy Cross took a quick lead from there at 8-6 but junior guard Jawarie Hamelin (Westerly, R.I.) hit his first three as a Wildcat to respond.
- Sunderland dropped in a layup, and knocked down his first three of the night to put UNH up 16-15 halfway through the first half.
- Through many lead changes and ties UNH took a 33-29 point lead with Posers third triple of the night.
- The Wildcats ran away with the score to go up by nine following a Pissis three pointer.
- The teams went into the locker room with a 41-34 halftime score.

- UNH took a 10 point lead three and a half minutes into the second half after Sunderland knocked down his second triple of the game. A bucket from freshman center Caleb Middleton (Dover, N.H.) and another three from Sunderland extended it to 52-39.
- UNH held their lead until 12:50 when the Crusaders began a 7-0 run that thinned the Wildcats' lead to just one point (54-53). McComb III put the 'Cats back up four after hitting a three.
- Holy Cross took their first lead of the second half with just under nine minutes left. Seven lead changes from there brought the score to 71-69 with 31 seconds remaining.
- UNH had possession of the ball with the shot clock off and 20 seconds remaining. Poser knocked down an electric three-pointer to put UNH up 72-71
- Holy Cross hit a buzzer-beater with time expiring to win the game 74-72.

- Poser recorded career highs in points (12), three pointers (four), and rebounds (five).
- McComb III recorded his sixth straight double-digit point night.
- Despite the loss, UNH shot 26-50 (52%) to the Crusaders 48.15% (26-54).
