'Cats Conclude Day One of AE Outdoor Championships

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University of New Hampshire women's track and field team competed on day one of the America East Outdoor Championships at the UAlbany Track and Field Complex Saturday afternoon for preliminary track events and a handful of field events.
RESULTS
FIELD EVENTS
Graduate student Sarah Williams (Dover, N.H.) came in third in the hammer throw with a toss of 175' (53.36m).
Three Wildcats placed in the top 10 in the pole vault with freshman Makena Lee (Northwood, N.H.) leading the way, finishing in third place in the event, reaching a mark of 11' 1.75" (3.40m. Senior Taylor Nydam (Hampton Falls, N.H.) came in a tie for fourth place with a height of 10' 8" (3.25m). Freshman Calli Ogurkis reached a height of 10' 8" (3.25m), tying for fourth place as well.
Sophomore Olivia Valianti (Mansfield, Mass.) came in third place in the javelin throw, reaching a distance of 128' 8" (39.22m).
TRACK PRELIMINARY EVENTS
Four different Wildcats ran in the 1500m preliminary race and all four qualified to run on day two of the AE Championships. Graduate student Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) led the pack with a fourth-place finish in 4:42.02. Sophomore Claire Ronan (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), junior Lily Doody (Lee, N.H.), and junior Emma York (Penacook, N.H.) also qualified by finishing in the top nine.
A trio of competitors reached qualifying finishes in the 800m run preliminaries with sophomore Silvia Caddel (Salem, N.H.) and Elizabeth Martell (Essex Junction, Vt.) coming in second and third place less than a second apart from one another. Senior Cailey Archer (Berthoud, Colo.) also qualified with a sixth-place finish.
