Niko Kvietkus Named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

IRVING, Texas – Niko Kvietkus (Southington, Conn.), a senior defensive tackle and captain on the 2022 University of New Hampshire football team, was named to the 2023 NFF Hampshire Honor Society as announced Wednesday by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame.
The 2023 NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of the NCAA, NAIA and sprint football who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers.
Nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must be either: a senior player who will graduate this spring/summer and just completed his final year of playing eligibility in 2022; or a graduated player who has been out of high school at least three years.
Honorees must have: attained a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2 (4.0 scale); met all NCAA/NAIA-mandated progress towards degree requirements; and been a starter or significant contributor throughout the 2022 season.

Kvietkus, who has a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while pursuing a business administration degree, started all 13 games and made 44 total tackles with 21 solo stops and 23 assisted tackles. Included in those totals were five tackles for loss, including two sacks. Kvietkus was also credited with six quarterback hurries, which ranked second on the team, and one pass breakup.
He recorded multiple tackles 10 times and that included seven games with 4+ tackles. Kvietkus made a career-high eight tackles with a personal best five assisted tackles in the season-opening 31-21 win vs. Monmouth University; he made two stops behind the line of scrimmage in that game. His other season highlights included a career-high four solo tackles at Dartmouth College.
Kvietkus made 11 tackles in two playoff games last season. He record five stops and a pair of QB hurries in the first round win vs. Fordham University, then made six tackles with another quarterback hurry at College of the Holy Cross.
In 42 games as a UNH Wildcat, Kvietkus made 66 unassisted tackles and 60 assisted tackles for a total of 126 tackles, including 20.5 tackles for loss with 10.5 sacks.
An elite group of 1,734 players from 328 schools qualified for membership in 2023, the Society's 17th year. The initiative has now honored 16,370 student-athletes since its inception.
In the 2022 season, UNH won a share of the CAA title with a 7-1 conference record and advanced to the NCAA second round to highlight a highly-successful season that ended with a 9-4 overall record.
Fans will have their first opportunity to check out the 2023 Wildcats in the Spring Blue-White Game on April 14 at Wildcat Stadium. The game is slated to begin at 7 p.m. and admission is free to the public.
