#19 UNH Falls to #17 URI, 26-9

DURHAM, N.H. – Graduate student wide receiver Logan Tomlinson (Manchester, Conn.) scored a touchdown for the 19th-ranked University of New Hampshire football team, but the Wildcats were defeated 26-9 by No. 17 University of Rhode Island at Wildcat Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Senior quarterback Seth Morgan (Pittsburgh, Pa.) completed 17 of 29 passes for 131 yards. Freshman quarterback Matt Vezza (Elmhurst, Ill.) completed 11 of 13 passes for 84 yards, including the touchdown.
Tomlinson finished with eight catches for 57 yards.
Grad student safety Wande Owens (Cooksville, Md.) made a game-high 10 tackles.

- New Hampshire returns to action Oct. 26 (3:30 p.m.) at Villanova University.

FIRST QUARTER
- At 5:08 with the Rams on their 39-yard line, Brendan Tighe (Lowell, Mass) intercepted Devin Farrell's pass on the UNH 41-yard line, but the Wildcats were unable to take advantage as the game remained scoreless.
SECOND QUARTER
- A Wildcat punt was blocked by Moses Meus and recovered by Josiah Silver (Hampton, Va.) in the end zone resulting in a safety, as URI took a 2-0 lead at 9:27 of the second quarter.
- With 23 seconds on the clock, Nick Mazzie (Boxford, Mass.) kicked a 45-yard field goal to put the Wildcats in the lead, 3-2.
THIRD QUARTER
- Ty Groff kicked a 20-yard field goal for the Rams at 9:43 to put Rhode Island back in front, 5-3.
- URI's Freddie Camp recovered a fumble off a muffed punt in the end zone for a touchdown and Groff's extra point to push the Rams' lead to 12-3 with 6:33 left in the third quarter.
- With 13 seconds left on the clock, Farrell sent a pass down the middle to Marquis Buchanan, who caught the ball in stride at the UNH and continued into the end zone for a touchdown. Ty Groff kicked the extra point, extending their lead 19-3.
FOURTH QUARTER
- URI's Tommy Smith rushed up the middle for three yards for a touchdown and the extra point made it 26-3 at 4:02.
- Vezza found Tomlinson in the middle of the end zone for a 13-yard touchdown with 29 seconds left in the game.
