Wolfpack edges Wildcats, 196.150-195.650, in EAGL dual meet
RALEIGH, N.C. – Senior Kylie Gorgenyi (North Reading, Mass.) established a personal-best 9.875 on floor exercise, senior Alyssa Worthington (West Warwick, R.I.) shared the top spot on balance beam (9.850) and the UNH gymnastics team registered its highest road score of the season in Friday night's 196.150-195.650 loss to North Carolina State at the James T. Valvano Arena at William Neal Reynolds Coliseum.
The Wildcats' record moves to 9-6 overall and 4-2 in EAGL competition.
Gorgenyi recorded at least a share of UNH's highest score in three events (vault, uneven bars, floor), and sophomore Alyssa Beaulieu (Holyoke, Mass.) won the all-around with a 39.150 that included a career-high 9.850 floor score.
"This was definitely a better away meet for us and a good confidence builder," head coach Lindsey Bruck Ayotte said. "Beau had a good all-around score, and it was nice to have KG back in all of her events."
HOW IT HAPPENED
•In the opening rotation, Gorgenyi headlined the bar lineup with a 9.850 to share third place with N.C. State's Alexis Ortega and Lauren Rutherford. Emily Shepard of the Wolfpack won bars with a 9.900. Beaulieu notched a 9.775 to tie for sixth. UNH totaled a 48.800 on bars.
•Gorgenyi and sophomore Gracy Mowers (Middleton, Mass.) led the vault lineup with matching marks of 9.825, which tied for second with the Wolfpack's Chloe Negrete. Shepard topped the podium with a 9.850. New Hampshire's vault score was 48.775.
•The Wildcat floor lineup featured Gorgenyi's career high (T-3rd), Beaulieu's personal best (T-5th), Mowers' career-high 9.825 (8th) and a 9.800 (T-9th) from senior co-captain Kenadi Brown (Las Vegas, Nev.) as part of a team score of 49.100, UNH's highest of the meet. Shepard earned her third event victory with a 9.925.
•Worthington and Negrete shared first place on balance beam, while senior co-captain Robyn Kelley (Wakefield, Mass.) scored a 9.825 to tie for the third with Ortega. Junior Sierra Bauman (Wallingford, Conn.) finished with a 9.800 (T-5th) and UNH totaled a 48.975 beam score.

•The Wildcats return home to host a quad meet against Pitt, Illinois State and Southern Connecticut State on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m. in the Whittemore Center. It will be UNH's Mental Health Awareness Meet, and the University celebrates Girls & Women in Sports, which includes a pre-meet youth clinic in the Field House in partnership with Strong Girls United. Plus, in honor of 50 years of Title IX, members of all Wildcat women's athletics teams will be honored at the meet.
EAGL CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS ON SALE – SATURDAY, MARCH 18– 1 p.m., 7 p.m.
•UNH plays host to the 2023 EAGL Championship, presented by Mass General Brigham Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, on Saturday, March 18, with quad meets at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. to determine the conference champion. George Washington, LIU, North Carolina, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, Temple and Towson challenge the Wildcats, who have won EAGLs the last three times (2003, 2014, 2019) it was held at the Whitt.
