UNH Women's Track & Field Places Second Runner-Up at Maine

ORONO, Maine – The University of New Hampshire women's track field team totaled 89 points to defeat Husson University (49 points) and place runner-up to host Maine (119) in the Wildcats' season-opening meet at the New Balance Field House.

Freshman Susanna Zahn (Bow, N.H.) won the 3000-meter in a time of 10 minutes, 13.02 seconds, while freshman Kailey Dillon (Merrimack, N.H.) collected 2,687 points to win the pentathlon. Dillon's highlights included first-place finishes in the 60 hurdles (10.03 seconds), the long jump (4.94 meters) and the 800m (2:34.93).

"This was a good opener heading into the break," said Anna Magle-Haberek, UNH Track & Field Director. "I am excited to see what this team can do after more time to train this winter."

•Junior Kaylen LaChapelle (Fremont, N.H.) won the high jump with a personal-best height of 1.52m.
•Junior Autumn Agri (Stratham, N.H.) topped the podium in triple jump with a distance of 11.40m.
•Freshman Briana Danis (Hooksett, N.H.) stood out in her collegiate debut with a team-leading weight throw distance of 15.12m (third place).
•Senior Natalie Fraser (Gilford, N.H.) won the 400m in a time of 1 minute, 1.29 seconds.

•Following a break for final exams and the holidays, UNH plays host to Maine in another Border Battle, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings, on Sunday, Jan. 21, in the Paul Sweet Oval.
