'Cats Finish Fifth in America East Championships (Oct. 27)

ORONO, Maine. -- The University of New Hampshire women's cross country team competed in the America East Cross Country Championship hosted by UMaine on Friday morning at Penobscot Valley Country Club. The 'Cats earned a 5th-place finish.
UNH earned a total of 113 points in the 5k race.

- The Wildcats will return to action at the NCAA Regional Meet in Bronx, N.Y., on Friday, Nov. 10.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Junior Jill Walker (Simi Valley, CA.) was UNH's top finisher with a time of 18:15.19, which placed 8th among 81 total runners. This finish earned Walker All-Conference Second Team honors.
- Senior Lily Doody (Lee, N.H.) also earned All-Conference Second Team honors, placing in 9th with a time of 18:20.38.
HISTORY:
- Last season, the 'Cats placed third in the America East Championships. The Wildcats have won seven America East championships (2003, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019). The seven titles are the most by any current America East team and second-most all-time.
- A Wildcat has won the individual championship five times: Elinor Purrier (2014, 2016 & 2017), Keely Maguire (2012), and Cathy Parker (2006).
