'Cats Finish Runner-Up to Penn at Home Quad Meet

Mowers, Gorgenyi, Beaulieu Earn Individual Victories; Wildcats defeat Yale, UW-Whitewater
DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore Gracy Mowers (Middleton, Mass.), senior Kylie Gorgenyi (North Reading, Mass.) and sophomore Alyssa Beaulieu (Holyoke, Mass.) each registered an event victory, and the UNH gymnastics team placed runner-up to Penn in Sunday afternoon's quad meet before a jam-packed crowd of 1,084 at Lundholm Gym.
UNH (7-2, 2-0 EAGL) scored a 192.750 to defeat Yale (192.700) and Wisconsin-Whitewater (191.350). Penn won the meet with a 195.025.
Mowers topped all scores on vault (9.800), Gorgenyi equaled a career high (9.900) to win uneven bars and Beaulieu tallied a 9.800 for first place on floor exercise.
UNH (7-2, 2-0 EAGL) scored a 192.750 to defeat Yale (192.700) and Wisconsin-Whitewater (191.350). Penn won the meet with a 195.025.

HOW IT HAPPENED
•The Wildcat vault lineup featured five Top-5 scores. Mowers' 9.800 was followed by senior co-captain Robyn Kelley (Wakefield, Mass.) and freshman Serena Mullin (Hamden, Conn.), who shared second place (9.775) with Penn's Kiersten Belkoff. Beaulieu and Gorgenyi tied for fifth (9.750).
•Gorgenyi anchored the bar lineup with her PB-matching performance, freshman Leah Moreno (Cary, N.C.) set a career high with a 9.825 for fourth place while senior co-captain Kenadi Brown (Las Vegas, Nev.) and senior Jacy Whitehead (Houston, Texas) were part of a seventh-place tie with a 9.775.
•Mullin registered the team-high balance beam score with a 9.700 (T-7th), but the Wildcats fell out of first place after being forced to count three falls.
•UNH snapped back in the final rotation on floor, headlined by Beaulieu's first-place finish. Gorgenyi and Brown tallied matching marks of 9.775 to share second with Penn's Isabel Song and Marissa Lassiter.
