Guarente Scores Lone Goal in 1-1 Tie Versus Maine

DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore forward Meghan Guarente (Sewell, N.J.) scored her team leading fifth goal of the season as the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team tied the University of Maine Black Bears on Thursday evening at Wildcat Stadium.
The Wildcats' record adjusts to 4-5-1 (1-1-1, America East) and the Black Bears goes to 5-2-2 (1-0-1, America East).

· UNH returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 9, for their 1 p.m. matchup against Binghamton at Bearcats Sports Complex.
· The Wildcats next home game is Thursday, Oct. 13, for their 6 p.m matchup against Bryant.
FIRST HALF:
· The Wildcats struck first when Guarente rocketed the ball to the back on the net off a pass from junior forward Anna Hewlett (Webster, N.Y.) in the 2nd minute of play.
SECOND HALF:
· UMaine's Hannah Bamford tied the game at 1-1 with a goal in the 84th minute. She was assisted by Halle Rogers.
· Grad student goalkeeper Cat Sheppard (Nesconset, N.Y.) made an acrobatic save in the 89th minute to keep the score knotted at 1-1 in the 54th minute off a shot from UMaine's Birte Speck.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
· UNH took two corner kicks compared to Maine's seven.
· The Wildcats got outshot by the Black Bears 18-7.
· Sheppard had eight saves while Kira Kutzinski had three.
