"I was very pleased with Sunday's performance considering we still have five weeks until our first meet," fourth-year head coach Lindsey Bruck Ayotte said. "The team is in a good place. Now, we need to continue focusing on the details."
HOME OPENER
•For the first time in program history, UNH will host its home opener at the Whittemore Center on Sunday, Jan. 15, when Central Michigan and Temple visit for a 2 p.m. tri-meet. Season tickets, group tickets and individual meet tickets are available at UNHWildcats.com.
SEASON OPENER IN BEEHIVE STATE
•The Wildcats travel to Southern Utah for their first meet of the season Monday, Jan. 9, at 9 p.m. ET in the America First Event Center.
Last Sunday, senior co-captain Kenadi Brown (Las Vegas, Nev.) and senior Kylie Gorgenyi (North Reading, Mass.) led the way with three individual victories in a head-to-head format that followed a dual-meet rotation. Brown was victorious on uneven bars, floor exercise and balance beam for Team Blue. Gorgenyi recorded wins on bars, balance beam and floor for Team White.
"KG is pushing hard to be a strong all-arounder for us and bring that 10.0 start value to vault," Bruck Ayotte said. "Kenadi had a really strong showing on three events and is displaying her consistency."
Making her return from an injury that sidelined her last season, senior co-captain Robyn Kelley (Wakefield, Mass) posted a win on balance beam and competed on floor exercise for Team White.
"It was amazing to have Robyn back on the competition floor. She brings so much energy and calmness to the team," Bruck Ayotte added.
Multi-event winners included junior Maya MacDonald (East Greenbush, N.Y.), senior Jacy Whitehead (Houston, Texas), junior Sierra Bauman (Wallingford, Conn.) and sophomore Summer Simpkins (Audubon, N.J.).
Scoring was determined by a panel of celebrity judges that featured Director of Athletics Allison Rich, retired Athletic Facilities/Housekeeping Manager "Mama" Jean Mitchell, retired Athletic Trainer Dan Sedory, along with student-athletes Jassem Koleilat (MSOC), Bruno Piva de Castro (MSOC) and Sally Rainey (WSOC).
