Gorgenyi wins vault, ties for second on bars
CEDAR CITY, Utah – Senior Kylie Gorgenyi (North Reading, Mass.) placed first on vault and tied for second on uneven bars, but the University of New Hampshire gymnastics team was defeated 196.100-192.875 by host Southern Utah University at the America First Event Center on Monday night.
Gorgenyi's 9.850 bar total was the top score among all competitors in the opening rotation before her 9.850 in the second rotation proved to be an event-winning mark on vault.
Senior co-captain Robyn Kelley (Wakefield, Mass.), who was competing for the first time since March 14, 2021, led the Wildcats' balance beam lineup with a 9.750 (sixth place) from the anchor position.
Sophomore Alyssa Beaulieu (Holyoke, Mass.) scored a personal-best 9.875 on floor exercise to tie for second place in that event, and she competed all four events for the first time in her career to place runner-up in the all-around (38.425) to Southern Utah's Karley McClain (39.475).
