Laube, Ruiz and Silver Named to HERO Sports All-American Teams

DURHAM, N.H. – Dylan Laube (Westhampton, N.Y.), a junior running back on the 15th-ranked University of New Hampshire football team, was named to the 2022 HERO Sports All-FCS All-American Team on Thursday. Sophomore defensive linemen Dylan Ruiz (Kissimmee, Fla.) and Josiah Silver (Hampton, Va.) were selected to the HERO Sports FCS Sophomore All-American Team.
Laube was one of two all-purpose players named to the offensive team. He was a three-time CAA All-Conference honoree with selection to the First Team as a punt returner, Second Team as a running back and Third Team as a kickoff returner. Laube was also named to the New England Football Writers All-New England Team.
Laube is the national leader in all-purpose yards per game and is ranked in the Top 10 in five other stats: No. 2 in total touchdowns, No. 5 in scoring, No. 7 in punt return average, No. 8 in rushing TDs and No. 9 in kickoff return average. On the CAA leaderboard, he ranks in the Top 5 in eight stats and he is the team leader in 14 statistics.
Laube's season highlights include a school-record 424 all-purpose yards in the NCAA first round vs. Fordham University, tying a school record with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown at Richmond, matching a school record for longest punt return with a 92-yard TD at Towson, and breaking the Wildcat Stadium record for longest punt return with a 43-yarder vs. Elon.
He finished the season with 1,209 rushing yards, which ranks seventh on UNH's list of single-season superlatives. Laube was the team's leading rusher all 12 games played and was the leader in receiving yards twice. He finished with five games of 200+ all-purpose yards and also rushed for 100+ yards five times, including a career-high 202 yards at UAlbany. Laube rushed for three touchdowns in that game vs. the Great Danes and also had three rushing TDs in consecutive games against Maine and Fordham.
Laube's weekly accolades this season included two-time CAA Offensive Player of the Week, CAA Special Teams Player of the Week, New England Football Writers Gold Helmet Award and College Football Performance Awards Performer of Week 13.
Ruiz was a 2022 New England Football Writers All-New England Team selection who was also named to the CAA All-Conference First Team as a defensive lineman. He was selected to the Ted Hendricks Award Watch List, which includes players from both FBS and FCS, as the top defensive lineman in the nation.
Ruiz is ranked No. 6 in the nation in sacks per game and is second in the CAA in that stat. He is the team leader in sacks and quarterback hurries, and is tied for the team lead in forced fumbles. Ruiz ranks second on the team in both solo tackles and total tackles, as well as tackles for loss.
His season highlights included career highs of 11 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss at Maine; he was also credited with two QB hurries that game. Ruiz finished with a career-high three sacks at Towson. In the NCAA second round at Holy Cross, he had five tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. He recorded multiple tackles all 13 games, including seven with 5+ tackles, and had a sack in 8 of 13 games.
Silver is another 2022 New England Football Writers All-New England Team selection who was also named to the CAA All-Conference First Team as a defensive lineman. He is No. 17 in the national rankings in tackles for loss and 12th in blocked kicks. On the CAA leaderboard, Silver is fourth in tackles for loss per game and fifth in sacks per game.
Silver is the team leader with 17.5 tackles for loss and second in sacks, as well as third in tackles and tied for third in quarterback hurries. He blocked two punts, one of which was returned for a touchdown and the other resulted in a safety. Silver had 10 games with 4+ tackles and recorded at least one tackle for loss in 11 of 13 games.
