Laube, Silver and Ruiz Named to Associated Press All-America Teams

DURHAM, N.H. – Dylan Laube (Westhampton, N.Y.), Josiah Silver (Hampton, Va.) and Dylan Ruiz (Kissimmee, Fla.) of the 15th-ranked University of New Hampshire football team were all named to a 2022 Associated Press FCS All-America Team on Tuesday night.
Laube, a junior running back, was selected to the First Team on offense as an all-purpose player. Silver was a Second Team honoree as a defensive lineman and Ruiz, another defensive lineman, was named to the Third Team.
This is the second All-America Team honor for Laube this season; he was previously named to the HERO Sports FCS All-American Team as an all-purpose player. Silver and Ruiz – both sophomores – were named to the HERO Sports Sophomore All-American Team earlier this month.
Laube is the national leader in all-purpose yards per game and is ranked in the Top 10 in four other stats: No. 2 in total touchdowns, No. 5 in scoring, and No. 8 in both rushing TDs and punt return average. On the CAA leaderboard, he ranks in the Top 5 in eight stats and he is the team leader in 14 statistics.
Laube's season highlights include a school-record 424 all-purpose yards in the NCAA first round vs. Fordham University, tying a school record with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown at Richmond, matching a school record for longest punt return with a 92-yard TD at Towson, and breaking the Wildcat Stadium record for longest punt return with a 43-yarder vs. Elon.
He finished the season with 1,209 rushing yards, which ranks seventh on UNH's list of single-season superlatives. Laube was the team's leading rusher all 12 games played and was the leader in receiving yards twice. He finished with five games of 200+ all-purpose yards and also rushed for 100+ yards five times, including a career-high 202 yards at UAlbany. Laube rushed for three touchdowns in that game vs. the Great Danes and also had three rushing TDs in consecutive games against Maine and Fordham.
Earlier this season, Laube was a three-time CAA All-Conference honoree with selection to the First Team as a punt returner, Second Team as a running back and Third Team as a kickoff returner. Laube was also named to the New England Football Writers All-New England Team.
Laube's weekly accolades this season included two-time CAA Offensive Player of the Week, CAA Special Teams Player of the Week, New England Football Writers Gold Helmet Award and College Football Performance Awards Performer of Week 13.
Silver is a 2022 New England Football Writers All-New England Team selection who was also named to the CAA All-Conference First Team as a defensive lineman. He is No. 17 in the national rankings in tackles for loss and 12th in blocked kicks. On the CAA leaderboard, Silver is fourth in tackles for loss per game and fifth in sacks per game.
Silver is the team leader with 17.5 tackles for loss and second in sacks, as well as third in tackles and tied for third in quarterback hurries. He blocked two punts, one of which was returned for a touchdown and the other resulted in a safety. Silver had 10 games with 4+ tackles and recorded at least one tackle for loss in 11 of 13 games.
Silver's season highlights included a season-high 3.5 tackles for loss vs. Stony Brook and 3.0 tackles for loss at nationally-ranked Richmond. He made a season-high seven tackles in the NCAA first round vs. Fordham and forced a fumble on the opening possession of the game. Silver went on to record six tackles, a fumble recovery, QB hurry and blocked punt in the second round at Holy Cross.
Ruiz is another 2022 New England Football Writers All-New England Team selection who was also named to the CAA All-Conference First Team as a defensive lineman. He was selected to the Ted Hendricks Award Watch List, which includes players from both FBS and FCS, as the top defensive lineman in the nation.
Ruiz is ranked No. 5 in the nation in sacks per game and is the CAA leader in that stat. He is the team leader in sacks and quarterback hurries, and is tied for the team lead in forced fumbles. Ruiz ranks second on the team in both solo tackles and total tackles, as well as tackles for loss.
His season highlights included career highs of 11 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss at Maine; he was also credited with two QB hurries that game. Ruiz finished with a career-high three sacks at Towson. In the NCAA second round at Holy Cross, he had five tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. He recorded multiple tackles all 13 games, including seven with 5+ tackles, and had a sack in 8 of 13 games.
