‘Cats Take Down In-State Rival, Dartmouth, 59-56

HANOVER, N.H. –. The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team closed on a 9-2 run in the final 4:32 to rally past their state rival, Dartmouth, 59-56 at Leede Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Wildcats' record improves to 2-1 (0-0 AE) and Dartmouth's falls to 0-3 (0-0 Ivy League).

FIRST QUARTER:
· UNH opened the scoring in the first quarter when freshman guard Breezie Williams (Canton, Ohio) buried a free throw.
· The 'Cats went on an 11-0 run halfway through the quarter to take a 16-6 lead.
SECOND QUARTER:
· Freshman guard Avery O'Connor (Dedham, Mass.) and junior guard Belen Morales Lopez (Bellereguard, Spain) made the only points of the quarter off the free throw line, the remainder of the points scored were free throws.
THIRD QUARTER:
· UNH went on a 7-0 run to bring the score within one, 42-41.
· Williams completed the Wildcat comeback by swishing a three in the final seconds of the half, tying the game 44-44.
FOURTH QUARTER:
· The Big Green held a lead the majority of the quarter, but the Wildcats kept within five.
· With just 18 seconds left, Brooke Kane drew a foul to shoot two. Kane sunk both, giving the Wildcats a 57-56 lead.
· Dartmouth resorted to fouls with six seconds left in the game, sending O'Connor to the line. O'Connor sank both.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
· UNH went 6-6 in free throws during the second quarter.
· O'Connor finished the contest with 15 points.
· Morales Lopez claimed eight total rebounds (four offensive, four defensive).
