Wildcats Explode Past Bryant, 6-1

DURHAM, NH. – Five different Wildcats scored in Thursday evening's contest to lift the University of New Hampshire's women's soccer team past the Bryant University Bulldogs, 6-1 on at Wildcat Stadium.
The Wildcats' record extends to 6-5-1 (3-1-1, America East) and the Bulldogs falls to 3-7-4 (0-3-3, America East).

· The Wildcats return to action on Sunday, Oct. 16, when they host Vermont at 2 p.m. for Senior Day,
FIRST HALF:
· Freshman forward Abbi Maier (Cincinnati, Ohio) struck first when she buried the ball to the bottom left corner of the net in the 9th minute. Junior midfielder Anna Hewlett (Webster, N.Y.) passed the ball to Maier in the right corner, who buried the ball inside the 18-yard box.
· Grad-student forward Maddy Warren (West Covina, Calif.) put the Wildcats in the lead, 2-1 when she rocketed the ball to the high left corner of the net in the 34th minute. Grad-student forward Gudrun Haralz (Kópavogur, Iceland) passed the ball to Warren, and recorded an assist on the play.
· Junior midfielder Sarah Peternel (Wolfeboro, NH.) scored her first career goal in the 40th minute. Peternel shot the ball in the low, left corner of the net from the 18-yard box following a pass from Hewlett.
· Junior Back Ella Dudley (St. Augustine, Fla.) fired a header goal in the high right corner of the net in the 43rd minute of the game following junior forward Emily Bini's (Guilderland, N.Y.) corner kick.
SECOND HALF:
· Warren struck again and found the low right corner of the net in the 64th minute. Bini crossed the ball and found Warren who knocked the ball in.
· Senior forward Whitney Wiley (Vienna, Va.) scored her first goal of the season in the 64th minute, unassisted. Wiley struck the ball at the top of the 6-yard box and found the low right corner of the net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
· The Wildcats outshot the Bulldogs 14-7.
· UNH took six corner kicks compared to Bryant's three.
· UNH made three saves while Bryant made five.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
· The Wildcats scored four goals in the first half, making this the first time since UNH's contest against Merrimack on February 24, 2021.
· The last time UNH scored six goals in a single contest was on September 27, 2015, when they hosted Binghamton. The 'Cats won that contest, 6-0.
