 Q&A WITH PAIGE:
When did you start swimming? When did it become a real possibility that you could swim at the Division I level?
I started swimming competitively when I was around seven years old. Growing up I was a three-sport athlete. I played basketball and softball as well as swimming. Trying to navigate all three sports and compete at a high level in all three became very stressful and hard to balance. It became a real possibility for me to swim Division I when I made the difficult decision to leave basketball and softball behind to focus solely on swimming. I knew that swimming was where my heart was and was my best shot at competing at the Division I level. After a heart to heart with my club coach, he helped me with setting my goal to swim for a competitive DI swim program.
What happened during your recruitment that made you want to come to UNH?
I had my heart set on going to school on the East Coast. I wanted to go to a school with a smaller team and I was impressed with what a successful team UNH had. It also was important to me that I would be able to contribute right away. When I visited the school, I immediately felt at home with the girls and the coaching staff. Of course, the beautiful campus and having mountains and a beach minutes away was a huge bonus as well.Â
You won the bronze medal in the 1650M freestyle as a freshman. What do you remember the most about that race?
I remember being really nervous because I hadn't swum the mile in over two years due to a chronic ear problem that made me extremely dizzy whenever I did too many flip turns. During the race, I remember trying to remain calm and remember the adjustments the UNH coaches help me make. I was really surprised when the race was over and I saw my time and place. The mile is a tough race mentally and physically and I was extremely grateful I did not let the team down.
Now that you have gone through a year of college competition, what goals do you have for yourself this season?
My goal for this season is to drop time in my events and place as high as I did last season. More importantly, I am hoping that we will be able to defend our conference championship.

 Q&A WITH JOSH:
When did you start thinking about playing college basketball?
I started thinking about playing college basketball when I was a freshman in high school.
You've been recognized as a leader on this team for some time now, who in your life inspired your leadership style?
I would say that all the coaches I've had in my life have taught me how to be a leader in many different ways. I think the key to being a good leader is being a hard worker but also knowing how to adapt to the environment you are put in and being able to push those around you to accomplish the goals we all strive to achieve.
As a senior, what advice do you have for your freshmen teammates?
My advice would be to learn from everything and always take the coaching for what it is because they just want us to be our absolute best. Never get too up when things are good and never to low when things are bad.
