Metzler won three events over the weekend for the Wildcats at the Bruno Invitational
BOSTON – Senior Anna Metzler (Regensburg, Germany) of the University of New Hampshire women's swimming and diving team was named America East Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Metzler set a new Coleman pool record in the 400 IM (4:08.21) on the second day of the Bruno Invitational on Saturday, after setting a new school and pool record in the 200 IM (1:58.32) on the opening day of the Bruno Invitational. Metzler broke Katie Mann's school record from 2014 of 1:58.78 at the NCAA's. Metzler's mark of 4:08.21 is a strong NCAA qualifying time that should earn her a spot at nationals in March in the 400 IM. It is just off her PR and school record of 4:07.20, which she set on March 1, 2020 at the ECAC Championships.
She registered a victory in the 200 back with a time of 1:57.19 in the final day of competition at Brown on Sunday.
"Anna had a great weekend at the Bruno Invitational, her current ranking at 15th in the 400 IM puts her in a great position for NCAAs in March," said UNH head coach Josh Willman. "We are proud of her second AE Swimmer of the Week Award along with all the great performances of the rest of the team at Brown."
Metzler wins the award for the second time this season, previously having won the award on October 27 and was honored for the eight time in her career with the AE weekly award.
The Wildcats return to the pool on Saturday, December 11 at Northeastern. Meet time from Barletta Natatorium in Boston is 12 p.m.
