Winer earns three first-place results in Bruck Ayotte’s head coaching debut
NORMAL, Ill. – Emma Winer (Georgetown, Mass.) earned individual victories on balance beam and floor exercise and shared the top score on vault to propel the University of New Hampshire gymnastics team to Saturday night's season-opening 193.400-189.050 victory against Illinois State at Horton Field House.
"We had a great start to our season tonight, and Emma was extremely solid for us," said Lindsey Bruck Ayotte, who registered a victory in her debut as UNH head coach. "We definitely have things to work on, but it is a great starting point for us this early in the season. The team energy was great and we are looking forward to building on the excitement next weekend at Pitt."
Winer scored a 9.750 on vault to equal teammate Robyn Kelley (Wakefield, Mass.) for meet-high honors, before topping the podium with a 9.775 on beam and a 9.825 on floor.
UNH won all four events and recorded the higher score in all four rotations.
