AMHERST, Mass. – Sophomore defensemen Will MacKinnon (Plymouth, Mich.) scored the only goal of the game and junior goaltender Mike Robinson (Bedford, N.H.) had 31 saves to lead the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team to a 1-0 victory over No. 7 UMass at the Mullins Center on Friday night.
With the win, the Wildcats have won five of their last six games and improve to 13-9-1 (7-6-0 HEA), while the first-place Minutemen fall to 16-8-1 (9-5-1 HEA). UNH improves to 2-0-0 this season versus UMass. The Wildcats are 5-2-0 versus nationally ranked teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Robinson made a blocker save on a two-on-one breakaway to keep the game scoreless just 3:19 into the game.
- The first period went scoreless as UNH had three shots on goal, while UMass took seven. The Wildcats were 0-1 on the power play and the Minutemen were 0-3.
- At 4:47 of the second period, Robinson denied a penalty shot by Bobby Trivigno keeping the game tied 0-0.
- At 12:40 of the second period, sophomore Filip Engarås (Stockholm, Sweden) sent the puck out front to a waiting MacKinnon at the point as he fired a slap shot that ricochet off the crossbar and went in to give the 'Cats a 1-0 lead. Junior Patrick Grasso (Ankeny, Iowa) posted an assist on the goal.
- UMass outshot UNH by a 10-7 margin while the Wildcats went 0-2 on the power play and the Minutemen went 0-1.
- With the Wildcats still leading 1-0, UMass went with an empty net with 1:12 left in the third period but were not able to capitalize with the extra attacker as the Wildcats posted the 1-0 victory.
