DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's cross country team heads up to Orono, Maine this weekend to face the University of Maine in the annual dual cross country meet this Friday, September 13.
The traditional UNH/Maine dual meet takes place in the early parts of the season and is a good chance for the Wildcats to get head-to-head meet experience in a competitive 5K course.
"It's an old school meet; a good chance for us to go head-to-head against another squad," says head coach Jim Boulanger.
The Wildcats will look to junior James Wilkes (Concord, N.H.) to lead the way in the dual meet; Wilkes was UNH's second finisher in the season-opening home meet. Wilkes led a group of six Wildcat finishes that secured UNH a top-two team score. Fellow junior Aidan Sullivan (Nashua, N.H.) was also in that pack with a personal best time in 14th place.
New Hampshire will also look to freshmen Forest MacKenzie (Deerfield, N.H.), William Curran (Old Saybrook, Conn.) along with upperclassmen Samuel Lanternier (Derry, N.H.) and Nicholas Brown (Conway, N.H.), who had great performances in the home opening tri-meet in August.
