Sanborn pinned the opponent inside the 20-yard line 27 times and that included six times in the season opener at the University of Maine and four times at the University of Colorado. Also of note, he averaged 44.2 yards per punt with a long of 55 at Villanova University.
The 28-player FCS Punter of the Year Preseason Watchlist was chosen based on 2018 All-America and all-conference selections, as well as conference nominations. The committee will announce the 10 semifinalists at the end of November, and the voting body will choose the three finalists in early December. There will be a second round of voting in mid-December, and the winner will be announced in early January 2020.
