Mulligan, Diggan Share First on Bars as 'Cats improve to 10-2
SAN JOSE, Calif. – Danielle Mulligan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) shared first place on uneven bars and won her fourth all-around championship of the season to propel the University of New Hampshire gymnastics team to Friday night's tri-meet victory over host San Jose State and Sacramento State at the Event Center.
UNH scored a 194.800 to dispatch SJSU (194.400) and SSU (192.275). With wins against 10 of their last 11 opponents, the Wildcats improved to 10-2 on the season heading into a Sunday afternoon dual meet (4 p.m. ET) at UC Davis to wrap up a California trip.
"I am proud of this team's resilience in such a different environment," said head coach Gail Goodspeed. "We still have more potential and more tenths to chase, and I am excited to see what we can do on Sunday."
Mulligan scored a 9.875 to share the top spot on bars with teammate Lauren Diggan (Sinking Spring, Pa.) and San Jose State's Kaprece Nadonza. It was the fifth time Mulligan has at least tied for first place on that apparatus this season.
Mulligan totaled a 39.200 that included a 9.725 on vault (T-6th), a 9.800 on balance beam (T-3rd) and a 9.800 on floor exercise (T-4th).
Nicole O'Leary (Newtown, Conn.) extended her streak of first-place vault performances to four straight meets with a 9.800.
Courtney Bondanza (Buffalo, N.Y.) tied San Jose State's Josalyn Ray for first place on beam (9.825), which marked her third first-place beam mark this season.
Ava Watkins (Cherry Hill, N.J.) equaled a personal best on floor (9.850) to finish runner-up to SJSU's Taylor Chan (9.900).
