DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team opens up the third weekend of the regular season with a split weekend series against Hockey East opponents; the 'Cats will face UConn on Friday evening in Storrs, Connecticut at 6 P.M. and return home Saturday afternoon to face Boston University at 3 P.M.
DOLLAR DOGS
Back by popular demand, it's the Dollar Dogs promotion, where every hot dog in the arena costs just $1 when the Wildcats play a school with a dog mascot. This includes Saturday's home game vs. Boston University.
 
LAST TIME OUT
- New Hampshire hosted St. Lawrence on homecoming weekend in a Thursday afternoon and Friday matinee matchup.
- The Wildcats fell behind in game one, 3-0; a late goal from sophomore Emily Rickwood (Brantford, Ontario), the first of her career, prevented the shutout.
- In game two, after falling behind 3-1, the Wildcats rallied four unanswered goals in the second period to lead 5-3. The Saints would tally two goals late in the third to salvage the tie.
 
PLAYERS TO WATCH
- Redshirt senior Taylor Wenczkowski (Rochester, N.H.) has a team-high five points on the young season with one goal and a team-leading four assists.
- Redshirt sophomore Paige Rynne (Ancaster, Ontario) leads the team with three goals so far on the year, along with an assist for four points. She tallied her first career multi-goal game against SLU.
- A total of four Wildcats have tallied four points this season so far:
- Along with Rynne, there's seniors Carlee Turner (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Meghara McManus (Milton, Mass.) each with two goals and two assists each.
- Freshman Tamara Thiérus (Saint-Jérôme, Quebec) has a tie with Wenczkowski in assists witha team-leading four total helpers on the year. In her first three games, Thiérus has tallied two multi-assist games.
 
BOUTILIER MAKES A COMEBACK
Redshirt-sophomore goaltender Ava Boutilier (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island) made her first start since 2018 in the season opener against Franklin Pierce, after missing the majority of last season with an injury. Boutilier stopped all 14 shots on net for her second career shutout. She was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for her season-opening efforts, the fifth weekly award of her career. Boutilier this season has a 1-1-1 record, a 2.62 GAA and a .895 save%.
 
SCOUTING UCONN
- The Huskies (Storrs, Conn.) are 2-0-0 on the season after sweeping LIU Brooklyn on Long Island.
- UConn tallied 10 goals in the two wins.
- This will be UConn's first home game of the season; after facing the Wildcats, the Huskies head to Worcester, Mass. to face Holy Cross Saturday.
 
SCOUTING BU
- The Terriers (Boston, Mass.) come into the weekend with just one game under their belt, a 2-1 win over Union.
- Before facing off at the Whitt on Saturday, the Terriers will host Merrimack College Friday evening.
- Both BU goals in the Union game were scored by senior Sammy Davis.
