The defense put heavy pressure on Elon junior quarterback Davis Cheek all night and came up with four interceptions and a fumble recovery.
"I thought it was a great team effort," said UNH interim head coach Ricky Santos. "That's a really, really good football team. We knew all week that we were going to have to stop the pass and get after the quarterback. I thought our defense did a tremendous job putting a really good quarterback under duress all night. Any time you can score a touchdown on the defensive side of the ball, let alone two, you're going to give your team a great chance to win and we did that tonight."
The Wildcats had a season-high six sacks, three by Manzyk. Junior defensive end Gunner Gibson (Hailey, Idaho) had two and a half sacks.
Manzyk's TD return was 55 yards and Horn's was 50 yards.
Senior cornerback Isiah Perkins (Williamstown, N.J.) and senior safety Pop Lacey (Reading, Pa.) joined Manzyk and Horn with interceptions. Sophomore defensive tackle Niko Kvietkus (Southington, Conn.) forced and recovered the fumble. Lacey led the team with 10 tackles.
Freshman quarterback Max Brosmer (Roswell, Ga.) completed 15 of his 25 passes for 135 yards and opened the UNH scoring with a 6-yard pass to junior tight end Nick Lorden (Milford, N.H.). Brosmer had three passes intercepted.
Redshirt freshman Bret Edwards (Lowell, Mass.) came on in relief late in the third quarter and led the Wildcats on a pair of drives that produced fourth quarter field goals of 45 and 42 yards by junior Jason Hughes (Atkinson, N.H.)
Senior Evan Gray (Centreville, Va.) led UNH rushers with 15 carries for 89 yards. Freshman Griffin Helm (Jacksonville, Fla.) had team highs in catches (6) and receiving yards (56).
