UNH Earns Fourth Straight Victory with Win Versus Quinnipiac

DURHAM, N.H. - Sophomore Linus Fallberg (Jonkoping, Sweden) scored the game winning goal as the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team defeated Quinnipiac, 1-0, at Wildcat Stadium on Friday night. The Wildcats have won four straight games and improve to 4-1-0, while the Bobcats fall to 0-3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute (7:31) when Fallberg blasted a shot from 18 yards out to the lower right corner of the net. Sophomore Josh Bauer (Bedford, N.H.) posted his first assist of the season on the goal.
- The Wildcats looked to take a 2-0 lead when Bauer headed the ball only to be saved by Quinnipiac goalie Jared Mazzola in the 16th minute.
- Then, sophomore Jacob Gould (Exeter, N.H.) sent a shot from just inside the 18 and tried to beat the keeper but the save was made by Mazzola in the 30th minute.
- In the 31st minute, Bauer's header went wide towards the left of the net.
- At the half, the Wildcats had outshot the Bobcats 8-1.
- In the 46th minute, Gould fired a shot towards the upper right corner from 18 yards out, but Mazzola was able to keep it out of the net with a diving save.
- Graduate student Lars Huxsohl (Hamburg, Germany) made his first save of the game off a 22 yard shot by Jordon Bennett to keep the game at 1-0 in the 62nd minute.
- In the 77th minute, senior Alex Valencia (Tracy, Calif.) sent a corner kick to Bauer, who then headed the ball from eight yards out, but Mazzola prevented the ball from going into the net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Huxsohl made one save to record his second shutout of the season, while Mazzola posted seven.
- UNH outshot Quinnipiac, 16-4, while the Wildcats took eight shots on goal and the Bobcats tallied one.
- UNH had seven corner kicks, while Quinnipiac took four.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- For World Duchenne Awareness Day, the players wore red tape on their uniforms to support teammate Lucas Currier who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
- This is Fallberg's second goal of the season and the first game winner. Fallberg now has five career goals with three of them being game winners.
- The Wildcats are 3-0-0 this season at home and are 13-0-3 at Wildcat Stadium over the last 16 games. UNH has outscored its opponents at home by a 29-7 margin over this span. Last year, UNH went 10-0-3 at Wildcat Stadium. UNH was just one of nine teams out of 205 to go undefeated at home.
