HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Within the first minute of the game, junior Antonio Colacci (Bradenton, Fla.) sent a shot towards the right post and Iona's Juan Alcantara laid out for the stop.
- In the sixth minute (5:03), Iona's Esad Mackic deflected the ball off of a UNH player in the box to set up Killian Colombie for a one-touch strike that he blasted to the lower right corner of the net.
- Four minutes later, redshirt freshman Jonny Wolf (Hopkinton, Mass.) fired a shot from the right side of the box and Alcantara denied the initial attempt, but junior Donnett Sackie (Monrovia, Liberia) sent the rebound to the back of the net from the center of the box to equalize the game at 1-1 (9:07).
- In the 23rd minute (22:41), a charging Sackie delivered a pass in stride from the right side to set up junior Jack Doherty (Meriden, N.H.) in the box. Doherty's shot was saved by Alcantara but left him out of position, allowing senior Alex Valencia (Tracy, Calif.) to send a leaping header into the right side of the net as the Wildcats took the lead 2-1.
- By the end of the first half, the Wildcats recorded seven shots on goal while Iona had two.
- In the 54th minute, Colacci drilled the ball just right of the net, sending Alcantara diving.
- Two minutes later, Iona's Mauro Bravo took a shot from 30 yards out but graduate student Lars Huxsohl (Hamburg, Germany) made his second save of the game to maintain a Wildcat lead.
- In the 62nd minute, Sackie flew toward the box while taking on three players and was still able to rip a shot on net, which Alcantara saved.
- Then, Colacci lofted a curved set piece into the box that sophomore Josh Bauer (Bedford, N.H.) finished with a back heel flick into the left portion of the net to increase the Wildcat lead to 3-1 in the 70th minute (69:03).
- Neither team scored again to keep the outcome a 3-1 win for UNH.
