Wildcats Head to Lehigh's Paul Short Run

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire cross country program continues the season by heading down to Bethlehem, Pa. for the 45th annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh.
The men's team looks to build off their performance in the coast to coast invitational and continue building their roster's strength heading into the latter part of the season. The 'Cats will be led by senior captain Dean Yost (Canton, Conn.) and sophomore James Wilkes (Concord, N.H.). Wilkes was the top finisher for UNH in the Coast to Coast invitational.
Other Wildcats looking to build off their performances in Boston last weekend include senior Davis Clark (Manchester, N.H.) and junior Nicolas Sevilla-Connelly (Chester, N.H.)
MEET DETAILS:
Date: September 29, 2018
Location: Goodman Campus Cross Country Course – Bethlehem, Pa.
Distance: Men's Race – 8K
Start Time: Men's Gold Race – 11 AM
THE 45th PAUL SHORT RUN:
The Paul Short Run, which is the largest intercollegiate cross country meet in the nation, gets set for its 45th iteration this Saturday. The meet features over 450 athletes from colleges and high schools across America, leading up to the men's and women's collegiate gold races and the men's and women's open races. The Wildcats will be competing in the men's and women's Gold races.
LAST TIME OUT:
Sophomore James Wilkes (Concord, N.H.) led UNH in the Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown last Friday afternoon. Wilkes turned in a time of 25 minutes, 52 seconds to pace the Wildcats in the high-powered meet that included runners from across the country. He finished 111th in the race. He was also the team's top finisher in the opening home meet against Providence and Holy Cross.
Other top finishers for the Wildcats were senior Davis Clark (Manchester, N.H.) in 26:05 to finish 137th; junior Nicolas Sevilla-Connelly in 26:14 to finish 145th; senior Brett Hoerner (Manchester, N.H.) in 26:19 for 154th and freshman Maxwell Ireland in 26:23 for 159th.
UNH's top finishers in 5K following the main event were senior William Ulrich (Mineola, N.Y.) in 15:49 for fourth place and sophomore Aidan Sullivan (Nashua, N.H.) in 16:06 in 13th.
UP NEXT:
The Wildcats are gearing up for championship season, beginning with the New England Championships next Saturday, October 6 at Franklin Park in Boston. The following weekend both squads will travel down to the CCSU Mini Meet on October 19, ahead of the 2018 America East Championships hosted by UMass Lowell in Nashua, N.H. on Saturday, October 27.
