Holmes, Kenney Lead 'Cats to Fourth at Williams Carnival (Day 1)

HANCOCK, Mass. & WOODFORD, Vt. – Peter Holmes (Truckee, Calif.) raced to a fourth-place finish in the men's 10K classic at Prospect Mountain and Patrick Kenney (Hingham, Mass.) took fifth place in men's giant slalom at Jiminy Peak to lead the University of New Hampshire ski team to fourth place on Friday's opening day of the Williams Carnival.
With 339 points, UNH trails Dartmouth (506), Vermont (427) and Middlebury (413).
The Wildcat men's alpine team finished in a three-way tie for second place (88 points) in GS with Middlebury and Vermont.
On the women's alpine side, Lisa Wedsjö (Saltsjöbaden, Sweden) and Sohvi Virkkula (Salla, Finland) finished eighth and ninth, respectively. UNH finished third in women's GS, behind Vermont and Dartmouth.
