Wildcats Take on America East Championships Saturday (12 P.M.)

The ‘Cats return a full squad for championship weekend.
DURHAM, N.H. – The first America East championship of the 2018-19 season will be crowned this weekend at Mine Falls Park in Nashua, N.H. with the America East 2018 Cross Country Championships.
The University of New Hampshire men's cross country team come into the weekend with some key athletes returning for a late-season push in a very competitive America East field.
Once again leading the pack for the Wildcats will be defending Performer of the Week William Ulrich (Mineola, N.Y.) coming off an impressive top-10 finish at CCSU, and his co-captain Dean Yost (Canton, Conn.), along with several returning Wildcats who missed some of the season due to injury or illness.
Other seniors looking to make one final push at conference glory are Brett Hoerner (Manchester, N.H.), James Busi (Plaistow, N.H.) and Davis Clark (Manchester, N.H.)
The 'Cats will look to Nicolas Sevilla-Connelly (Chester, N.H.) to return strong, continuing his comeback after finishing 21st at the mini-meet last weekend, and James Wilkes (Concord, N.H.) who will see his first action since the Coast to Coast 8K in September.

"I feel like we ran well last week [in the 5K]. We just need to translate that success to the 8K. We've got everyone back, the holes are filled, and we're looking to try and do our best against a very competitive field. America East has a lot of very good top teams; it's always competitive, and it's a good challenge for us."

LAST TIME OUT:
- At the CCSU Mini Meet, the men's squad took 3rd in the team standings.
- William Ulrich took 6th place in 14:59.5, which set a new personal best in the 5K.
- Dean Yost took 17th place in 15:26.2. This was a 12 second improvement over his 5K time.
- Nicolas Sevilla-Connelly took 21st place in 15:28.9. New personal best by a full 23 seconds.
- Brett Hoerner finished 23rd with a time of 15:30.3. He beat his 5K time from the start of the season, which was 15:41.2.
- Jack Crawford (Mansfield, Mass.) took 32nd place in 15:44.3, crushing his previous personal best of 15:56.5.
- Rounding out the wildcats was Davis Clark who took 36th in 15:50.8.
