Yost, Hoerner Lead ‘Cats into CCSU Mini-Meet

The Wildcats have one more meet before the conference championships.
DURHAM, N.H. – The New Hampshire men's cross country team heads to Central Connecticut State on Friday afternoon to face off in the annual CCSU Mini Meet, a final warm-up meet before the conference championships.
The Wildcats will once again be led by upperclassmen Dean Yost (Canton, Conn.) and Brett Hoerner (Manchester, N.H.) in the 5k meet, looking to compare their results to the home opener. Also returning for the Wildcats will be Nicolas Sevilla-Connelly (Chester, N.H.), Aidan Sullivan (Nashua, N.H.), and Alexander Saveliev (Concord, N.H.) all returning from injury or illness.
The men's varsity 5k kicks off at 3 P.M., with seven UNH runners in the mix. The rest of the squad will run the J.V. meet later in the day.

Championship season is in full swing for the Wildcats, with the America East Championship Meet taking place next Saturday, October 27 at Mine Falls Park in Nashua, N.H. From there, qualifiers will move on to the NCAA Regional meet on November 9th in Buffalo, N.Y.

"It'll be good to get the guys running another 5k, to see how they've improved this season since the first meet. It'll be a good comparison. We've got three guys who were sidelined with injury or illness, it'll be nice to have them back for this part of the season."

LAST TIME OUT:
- At the New England Championships, the men's squad took 13th in the team standings.
- Brett Hoerner (Manchester, N.H.) took 43rd in 25:55.06
- Dean Yost (Canton, Conn.) followed closed behind in 45th with a time of 25:57.54, setting a new personal best in the 8k.
- Jack Crawford (Mansfield, Mass.) also set a new personal best, finishing in 74th with a finishing time of 26:23.72.
- Matthew Walker (Westerly, R.I.) posted his second 8k time of his career, setting a new personal best in 26:54.8 as he finished 102nd.
