Mara, 'Cats Shine at Army West Point Meet

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Junior Jeannette Mara (Bedford, N.H.) broke the school record in the high jump and three of her teammates on the University of New Hampshire women's track & field team turned in impressive performances in the West Point Twilight Meet at the United States Military Academy on Thursday.
Mara, junior Danielle Gajewski (Danville, N.H.), sophomore Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.) and sophomore Shelby Strickland (Kennebunk, Maine) each set personal records in their respective events.
Mara won the high jump with an effort of 5 feet, 8.50 inches. Strickland was second at 5 feet, 7.75 inches.
Gajewski won the 800 in 2:07.21.
Murdock won the 1500 in 4:19.11.
The Wildcat athletes went to the meet to improve their chances of qualifying for the East Preliminary round of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field championships and each moved up in the rankings and did improve her chances.
UP NEXT
- The Wildcats will compete in the New England Championships at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., on Friday and Saturday.
- The East Preliminary round of the NCAA Championships is set for May 25, 26 and 27 at the University of Kentucky.
- The NCAA Championships are June 6 through June 10 at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
