Kenefick Finishes Top 10 in New England Championships
10/7/2017 3:45:00 PM | Men's Cross Country
BOSTON, Mass. – University of New Hampshire senior Timothy Kenefick (Guilford, Conn.) was the top finisher for the Wildcats in the men's 8k New England Championship race. The Wildcats finished 12th overall in the team score with 287 points. The 12th place finish was an improvement from last season's championship where the Wildcats finished in 17th overall, and Kenefick who finished in 86th place last season.
Kenefick was UNH's only top-50 finisher, as he crossed the finish line in eighth place, with a final time of 25:32.0.
Stonehill won the meet with a team score of 119, followed by MIT in second with 124, and UMass Amherst in third with 133. The individual race winner was Leakey Kipkosgei of AIC, who was also the first-place finisher in the 2016 championships.

UNH RACE DETAILS:
FROM THE COACH:
"Kenefick is having an amazing season. He's really running well this year. I've loved watching him so far, and can't wait to see how he does to end the season."
-Robert Hoppler
"We ran hard early, and the heat got to us, as opposed to last time in [Franklin Park] when it was about 60 [degrees]. We didn't run the last mile like we thought we would. The race seemed slow all around due to the heat. But our training is going well, and hopefully we can improve on things as the season starts coming to a close. Overall, a solid day."
