The No. 17/16 UNH football team enters Saturday's game at top-ranked James Madison with a 5-2 overall record that includes 3-1 in the CAA and 1-2 away from home.
The Wildcats scored 26 points in the second quarter and built a 40-3 lead en route to a 40-17 victory against Towson University last Saturday at Wildcat Stadium.
Saturday's game is Homecoming for the Dukes. UNH was also the guest for Stony Brook's Homecoming game two weeks ago.
New Hampshire has an 8-9 lifetime record against James Madison and that includes 3-5 on the road. Last year, the Dukes held on for a 42-39 victory at Wildcat Stadium (Oct. 15) and prevailed 55-22 in an NCAA FCS second round game at Bridgeforth Stadium (Dec. 3).
James Madison (Harrisonburg, Va.), ranked No. 1 and the defending national champions, has a 7-0 overall record to tie the best start in program history that was established in 2015. The Dukes' 19-game win streak is a program record and the longest active streak in all of Division I.
Redshirt freshman running back DeUnte Chatman was named CAA Football Rookie of the Week this past Monday. Chatman made his first career start a memorable one with a career-high 187 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries in UNH's 40-17 victory against Towson last Saturday. He averaged 8.5 yards per carry and scored on runs of 26 and 23 yards.
Junior WR Neil O'Connor is closing in on UNH's Top 10 list in both single-season and career receiving yards; O'Connor has 883 yards this season and No. 10 is 1,004 (R.J. Harris in 2013); his 1,790 career total is short of No. 10 Scott Sicko (2006-09) at 2,023.
Nineteenth-year head coach Sean McDonnell recorded his 93rd career victory in CAA conference play Oct. 21 with UNH's 40-17 win vs. Towson at Wildcat Stadium. McDonnell's predecessor, Bill Bowes, is No. 3 at 97 career conference wins.
