IRVING, Texas – Daniel Rowe (Orange, N.J.), a senior safety on the University of New Hampshire football team, was named to the 2016 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society by the NFF & College Hall of Fame on Wednesday.
The NFF Hamsphire Honor Society honors football players from all divisions who maintain a 3.20 or higher cumulative grade point average throughout their college career and are a starter or significant contributor in the last year of eligibility. Each player awarded with membership in this year's Honor Society will receive a certificate commemorating their achievement.
Rowe was named to the CAA Academic All-Conference Team all four years. He started all nine games in which he played as a senior in the 2015 season. Rowe made 27 solo stops and 18 assisted tackles for a total of 45, which averaged to 5.0 per game. He also forced two fumbles, recovered a fumble and was credited with three pass breakups, as well as a blocked kick.
Rowe opened his final season with a career-high 13 tackles (6-7-13) and blocked a PAT at FBS representative San Jose State University, and followed that with an eight-tackle performance at Colgate University. He was injured Game 3 at Stony Brook University, but through three weeks he was UNH's leading tackler with 23.
In four years, Rowe amassed 139 total tackles – 98 solo and 41 assisted – in 47 games. He had a breakout junior season in 2014, when he started all 14 games and ranked third on the team with 70 tackles (54-16-70).
UNH (7-5 overall, 5-3 CAA) advanced to the NCAA FCS playoffs for the 12th consecutive year, which is the longest active streak in the country.
New Hampshire opens a state-of-the-art stadium in 2016. For a $25 deposit per seat available online or at the Whittemore Center Box Office, fans will receive a seat selection priority number.
