WHAT HAPPENED
Sophomore forward and Hobey Baker Award candidate Andrew Poturalski (Williamsville, N.Y.) got the Wildcats on the board just 30 seconds into the first period. The play came as senior forward Dan Correale (Prince George, British Columbia) played a pass to junior Tyler Kelleher (Longmeadow, Mass.) in front of the net. Kelleher fired a shot on net that UML's Kevin Boyle saved initially, but Poturalski found the rebound and put it away.
UNH took a 2-0 lead at 10:10 of the second period as sophomore Shane Eiserman (Newburyport, Mass.) netted his first goal of the season. Classmate Michael McNicholas (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) played a pass to junior Jamie Hill (Glassboro, N.J.) along the boards in front of the UNH bench and skated in with it. Hill found Eiserman streaking in and played the puck across the face of the goal for Eiserman to put away his one timer.
At 9:45 of the third period, freshman Ara Nazarian (Boxford, Mass.) gave the Wildcats a 3-0 lead with his sixth goal of the season. The play started when freshman Chris Miller (Windham, N.H.) forced a turnover in the UNH zone and freshman Frankie Cefalu (Buffalo, N.Y.) poked it to Nazarian. He skated into the Lowell zone with the puck and beat Boyle with a bar-down backhand shot.
The River Hawks got on the board at 10:07 of the third period on a goal by Jake Kamrass. Kamrass got the rebound of a shot by Nick Master and pushed it into the net. With an extra skater and 1:15 left in the third period, the River Hawks pulled to within one on a goal by Master. C.J. Smith played a pass to Joe Gambardella who found Master in front of the net.
