Gymnastics Rallys Past Maryland for Senior Night Victory

Wildcats edge Terrapins, 195.325-195.125
DURHAM, N.H. – Kelsey Aucoin (Double Oak, Texas) recorded a first place finish on the balance beam (9.875) and a share of second place on the floor exercise (9.850) in the University of New Hampshire's gymnastics team's first place finish in Friday's dual meet versus the University of Maryland.
The Wildcats improve to 11-5 overall, while the Terrapins fall to 2-9 on the season.

HIGHLIGHTS
- UNH owned the meet's top two scores on uneven bars and balance beam, as well as four of the top five on the floor exercise.
- Wildcat gymnasts placed first on both bars (Mulligan and Kerouac) and beam (Aucoin).
- Danielle Doolin (Medford Lakes, N.J.) tied a personal best on floor (9.850), and also placed first in the all-around championship (38.950).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats opened the night with a strong performance on vault, where they posted a team score of 48.825, their second-best mark of the season in the event. Meghan Pflieger (Barneveld, N.Y.) led the way with a 9.800 and earned third place. Elizabeth Mahoney (Hanson, Mass.) and Jennifer King (Freehold, N.J.) closely followed, each finishing with a 9.775 and a share of fourth place.
New Hampshire had an equally successful time on uneven bars, again scoring 48.825 as a team. Danielle Mulligan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Makenzie Kerouac (Merrimack, N.H.) tied for first in the event, each recording an impressive 9.875. It marks the fifth straight meet in which Mulligan has earned a first place finish on bars.
On balance beam, Aucoin posted UNH's top score in the third event of the night. The senior recorded a 9.875 and a first place finish. Pflieger was not far behind, as she posted a 9.850 and earned a share of second place. As a team, UNH totaled a 48.425 in the event.
The Wildcats saved their best performance for last, recording a season-high team score of 49.250 on the floor exercise. Pflieger, Aucoin, Doolin, Lia Breeden (York, Pa.), and Cassy Izzo (Cranston, R.I.) finished in a five-way tie for second place, each with a score of 9.850. Aucoin and Breeden set new season highs, while the score was a new personal best for both Izzo and Doolin.
TEAM NOTES
- New Hampshire was outscored by Maryland on beam (48.500 - 48.425), but topped the Terrapins on both bars (48.825 - 48.775) and floor (49.250 – 49.025). The two squads tied on vault, each scoring 48.825.
- With the victory, UNH has now recorded nine wins in the last five meets
- Five Wildcats either set or tied season highs (Kerouac, Breeden, Izzo, Aucoin, Doolin). Izzo and Doolin also set new career highs.
