Home Playoff Clinched Following 3-2 Loss to Stony Brook

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.) scored her 10th goal of the season as the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team fell 3-2 on Senior Night to Stony Brook University, clinching an America East home playoff game in the process.

With the other results of the day, New Hampshire has clinched home field in the America East tournament. The Wildcats will be the fourth seed for the tournament, which kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 27. Opponent has yet to be determined.

New Hampshire dominated the first half with an 8-1 shot advantage heading into the break.
-2nd Half-
In the second half the goal scoring commenced. The Seawolves scored first in the 63rd minute on a cross by Thompson to Johnstonbaugh who finished bottom right, far side, inside the box. Three minutes later, Kalmbach buried a header from inside the box that ricocheted off Borkan's mitts and into the net. Ten minutes after the previous goal, Corcho took one-touch outside of the box and finished on the right side for a commanding 3-0 lead, but UNH responded. Williams buried the first of her career and the edge of the box on a finish left to right on the bottom with 15 minutes to go. New Hampshire was then fouled inside the box in the 82nd minute to setup a penalty-kick attempt for Murphy who scored it for her 10th of the season. New Hampshire rifled the final four shots, three of them blocked, in the attempt to force overtime but was undone.
