No. 15 Gymnastics Challenges Pitt in Dual Meet (Jan. 23, 6 p.m.)

PITTSBURGH – The 15th-ranked University of New Hampshire gymnastics team heads to the University of Pittsburgh for a dual meeet at Fitzgerald Field House against the Panthers on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 6 p.m. The meet was originally supposed to include 12th-ranked George Washington University and Temple University, but inclement weather forced the Colonials and Owls to cancel their involvement.
NEXT HOME MEET: UNH hosts its annual Wildcat Invitational quad-meet Sunday, Feb. 7, at 1 p.m. The 'Cats compete against the University of Bridgeport, Brown University and Towson University. It will be Fitness Day at Lundholm Gym. Fans displaying their gym membership card will receive a special ticket price. For tickets, visit www.unhwildcats.com or call 603-862-4000, extension 5.
WHAT'S AHEAD: The Wildcats wrap up their three-meet road trip at the Don Tonry Bulldog Invitational quad meet (Jan. 30, 1 p.m.), hosted by Yale University. The Wildcats and Bulldogs will be joined by the University of Bridgeport and Southern Connecticut State University.

MEET NOTES:
- The Wildcats moved up three spots from No. 18 to No. 15 in this week's Road to Nationals Top-25.
- UNH is ranked second (195.467 average) in EAGL behind No. 12 George Washington (195.800).
- On Tuesday, UNH swept EAGL's three weekly awards: Casey Lauter (Northport, N.Y.) was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week for the first time in her career; Danielle Mulligan (Farmingdale, N.Y.) was tabbed EAGL Specialist of the Week and Danielle Doolin (Medford, N.J.) was honored as EAGL Rookie of the Week.
- Fitzgerald Field House, the site of this weekend's meet, is also the host arena for the 2016 EAGL Championship (March 19, 2 p.m.)
LAST TIME OUT: (Jan. 17, 2016)- MORGANTOWN, W.VA. – Casey Lauter set a career high on balance beam (9.950) and placed second in the all-around (39.075) in No. 18 UNH's 195.800-195.225 loss to West Virginia University on Sunday afternoon at Cary Gym.
The Wildcats swept the top four scores on beam, but fell to 2-2 on the season. West Virginia earned its first victory of the year, improving to 1-2.
"This was a great score for our first road meet of the season," head coach Gail Goodspeed said. "We started rough on bars, but fought to the very last beam routine. Casey scored a career high 9.95, and the head judge gave her routine a 10.0."
Danielle Mulligan registered the Wildcats' top score on bars for the third straight meet. The freshman scored a 9.850 to earn third place in the event.
Elizabeth Mahoney (Hanson, Mass.) achieved the top score for New Hampshire on vault, the team's second event of the afternoon. She scored a 9.775, good enough for a fourth place finish.
Danielle Doolin (Medford, N.J.) registered UNH's top mark on floor (9.850), earning a share of second place. The freshman also finished third in the all-around (39.050).
The Wildcats closed strongly on beam where they recorded six of the top seven performances, headlined by Lauter. Meghan Pflieger (Barneveld, N.Y.) placed second with a 9.900, followed by Kelsey Aucoin (Double Oak, Texas) with a 9.875.
"We had great team energy throughout, and I am very excited about this team," Goodspeed added.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS: Pitt (1-5, 0-1 EAGL) finished third at the Ozone Collegiate Classic on Saturday. The Panthers scored a 190.350 to defeat Air Force (188.850). Iowa State (194.200) and Southeast Missouri State (192.550 claimed the top two placements. The Panthers had two individual first-place finishers in junior Tracey Pearson (9.775, vault) and senior Lindsay Offutt (9.900, floor).
