Football Makes Playoffs, To Host Colgate Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of New Hampshire earned one of 14 at-large berths into the 2015 NCAA FCS Championship and will play host to Colgate University in a first round game Nov. 28 (3:30 p.m.) at Cowell Stadium.
Tickets for the game go on sale to the general public on Monday at noon, giving season ticket holders 24 hours to lock in their seats for the game. Tickets for the playoff game are $30 for chairback, $25 bench, $20 adult general admission, $10 youth/senior general admission and $5 UNH students.
At noon on Monday, the general public may purchase tickets to the Colgate game by CLICKING HERE or calling 603-862-4000, ext. 5. Season ticket holders will be contacted by email and be given the opportunity to lock in their seats.
The Wildcats qualify for the NCAA playoffs for the 12th straight season, which extends the longest streak in the nation. UNH, which ended the regular season with four consecutive wins to improve to 7-4 overall and 5-3 in the CAA, has advanced to the semifinals each of the past two seasons.
The winner of this first round matchup advances to play at No. 5 seed James Madison University on Dec. 5 (1 p.m.).
The first round game vs. the Raiders is a rematch from the second week of the regular season, when New Hampshire defeated Colgate, 26-8, at Andy Kerr Stadium on Sept. 12.
UNH and Colgate have met once in postseason history. The Wildcats were 55-21 victors in a 2005 first round game at Cowell Stadium.
Saturday's game will also be the final game in historic Cowell Stadium.
The new Wildcat Stadium is under construction on the site and will be ready for the 2016 season. A marketing campaign is under way for the new stadium and for a fully refundable deposit of $25 fans can put their name on a priority list for 2016 season tickets. Deposits can be made by CLICKING HERE.
This will be the third consecutive year New Hampshire has a postseason matchup against a member of the Patriot League. The 'Cats ousted Fordham University, 44-19, in last year's second round game at Cowell Stadium and defeated Lafayette College, 45-7, in the 2013 first round.
UNH has a 12-16 all-time postseason record with an 11-13 record in the FCS tourney, including 11-11 in the tenure of 17th-year head coach Sean McDonnell.
UNH is 5-0 at home this season and has outscored the opposition 166-76. Since the start of the 2007 season, the Wildcats are 47-5 at Cowell Stadium for a .904 winning percentage.
New Hampshire has tremendous success at home against non-conference teams the past decade-plus (2005-15) with a 20-2 record that included 16 consecutive wins. Prior to a 21-18 loss in the 2014 NCAA playoffs to Illinois State University, the last time a non-conference team left Cowell Stadium as the victor was Dec. 3, 2005, when Northern Iowa escaped with a 24-21 win in an NCAA quarterfinal win.
