KINGSTON, R.I. – The University of New Hampshire (4-0) women's swimming and diving team preserved its undefeated season, claiming first place in 14 of 16 events, taking down the University of Rhode Island, 160-128, on Saturday afternoon at Tootell Aquatic Center.
The Wildcats opened the day with a first-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, timing in at three minutes and 58.28 seconds. Jenna Bull (Woodstock, New Brunswick), Katie Mann (Prince George, B.C.), Lauren McCandless (Macungie, Pa.) and Shelli Reed (Hollister, Calif.) all contributed to the swim, as the 'Cats collected 11 points in the event.
Oneida Cooper (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Adria Morales (Canyon Country, Calif.) finished in first (59.82) and third place (1:01.95), respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke.
Jessica Little (Barrie, Ontario) gave the Wildcats a lift in the 100-yard breaststroke, earning the top spot in the event with a time of 1:06.47.
UNH was especially strong in the 200-yard butterfly, claiming the top three spots in the event. McCandless finished in first place (2:05.94) while Sydney Tribou (Orlando, Fla.; 2:10.09) and Megan Suffel (Cornwall, Ontario; 2:11.01) took second and third place, respectively.
The 'Cats got a huge boost in the one-meter dive, as Ellen Pelletier (West Hartford, Conn.) and Kyle Bonus (Philadelphia, Pa.) took the top two spots in the event. Pelletier finished in first with a score of 251.02, while Bonus notched second place compiling 199.27 points.
The Wildcats return to action when they hit the road for the Boston University Invitational (Nov. 18-20) at Faneuil Pool.
