Elizabeth Martell recorded her first individual championship in the 800-meter run on Sunday afternoon as the University of New Hampshire women’s track and field team concluded day two of the America East Outdoor Championships at the UAlbany Track and Field complex. Elizabeth finished with a time of 2 minutes, 8.24 seconds against eight other participants from seven other colleges. She had advanced to Sunday’s championship heat by placing fourth in Saturday's preliminaries.
In addition to her individual championship in the 800m, Elizabeth was also a part of the team of Claire Ronan, Cailey Archer, and Silvia Caddel who notched their third straight AE Outdoor Championship win in the 4x800m event. They finished with a time of 9:01.94, which was 10 seconds faster than the second-place team.
The Wildcats return to action at Shea Stadium on the campus of Army West Point for the West Point Twilight Meet on Thursday, May 11. UNH will also be competing at the New England Championships at the W.B. Mason Stadium (Easton, Mass.) on May 12-13.
