Liam Blackburn, a freshman from Prince George, British Columbia, recorded a career-high three assists for a personal-best three points to lead the UNH men’s hockey team to a 5-3 comeback victory against Northeastern University at the Whittemore Center on Jan. 12.
In addition to the three assists, Liam had a plus/minus rating of +3 and won 14 of 20 faceoffs.
Liam set up UNH’s first goal of the game, which lifted the Wildcats within 2-1 just 10 seconds after NU took a two-goal first-period lead. The ‘Cats trailed 3-2 at the start of the third period, but Liam helped ignite the comeback by setting up the game-tying goal midway through the frame. Liam then helped secure the victory by setting up an empty-net goal that gave New Hampshire a 5-3 lead with 56 seconds to play.
In 21 games, Liam has tallied 14 points on six goals and eight assists. His other stats include a +7 rating, two power-play goals and a game-winning goal (at UMass, Oct. 28).
