Kat Fogarty, a junior from Westminster, Mass., scored 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds to propel the UNH women’s basketball team to a 71-43 victory against Sacred Heart University at Lundholm Gym on Feb. 18. Both the 15 points and eight rebounds were the second highest marks in the game.
The 6-foot-2 forward was perfect from the foul line (9-for-9) and made 3 of 8 field goal attempts to account for her 15 points. She also had two assists and a blocked shot in 31 minutes of action.
Kat scored 13 points in the second half, when the Wildcats outscored the Pioneers 44-24. She scored seven of the team’s first 11 points of the half as UNH extended a 27-19 lead to 38-24 with four minutes remaining in the third period.
Back in the first period, Sacred Heart scored the first points of the game but Kat hit a pair of free throws to tie the score and ignited an 11-0 run that gave New Hampshire a lead it would not relinquish.
For the season, Kat ranks third on the team in scoring (11.8 ppg), second in rebounding (3.8 rpg), tied for first in free throws made (33), first in free throw percentage (86.8%), first in blocks (13), and third in minutes (28.0 mpg).
